A space for

We’re building affirming, generative, and joyful spaces for 2SLGBTQIA+ people to grow and innovate together.

Our Mission.

A future built by all of us.

Which means that 2SLGBTQIA+ innovators are:

  1. Building strong, resilient communities across the multitude of intersections within;

  2. Contributing actively and influentially to the innovation economy. In other words, we’re building the future;

  3. Empowered to access the knowledge, resources, and opportunities they seek to address the problems they see in the world; and

  4. Inspiring collective action to tackle the societal challenges of today.

Our Commitments.

Spaces for Joy

We believe that queer joy and the resilience it affords are beautiful, radical, and healing. Historically and today, our joy lives outside of the status quo, and helps us carve space for community, solidarity, and autonomy.

Spaces for Intersectionality

We believe that it is necessary to consider that there is not one 2SLGBTQIA+ experience. We understand that the dominant systems we move through benefit and harm us in different ways, and this lens is applied in all that we do.

Spaces for Equity

We believe that in today’s world, equity issues require an understanding of the root causes of outcome disparities. We are committed to identifying and removing barriers, while prioritizing equitable treatment and the interruption of discrimination in all its forms.

Spaces for Accountability

We believe that power dynamics are continuously shifting. We must address this challenge with counter processes of meaningful and inclusive community engagement.

What’s in a name?

A gradient is edgeless. It has no margins. In mathematics, a gradient points in the direction of the most change.

Like our namesake, Gradient Spaces is a not-for-profit committed to a future in which queer people are not marginalized but celebrated, centered, and empowered to create real change.

Land Acknowledgment

In these more digital times, we recognize that you may not be reading this from Tkaronto (Toronto) in so-called Canada. Since our team and the work we do is based here on the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis, we want to take time to acknowledge that Tkaronto is covered by Treaty 13 with the Mississaugas of the Credit.
